Coming Home

I grew up in our family home in the Brisbane suburbs and left at 18 to study in New South Wales, moving to Sydney for my first teaching job in 2006.  At 21, I held my first passport in my hands and travelled to Thailand.  I met travel and it was like hanging out with an old friend.  My husband & I became seasoned expats and moved our little family across the world, from London through California to Austin, a few years in Singapore and now settling on the east coast of Australia.  The one phrase I kept sharing with our kids throughout each move to resettle us was, "home is where we are".

This year, I am leaning in to the experiences that have built the foundations of Traveling Thread Co in a more sustainable way.  I plan on being here to teach you long after trends and buzzwords fade away.  When you press play on our video tutorials, we hope you feel like you've stepped into our creative studio with a warm embrace, welcomed with teaching that builds confidence, gives you room to grow through gentle guidance and connects you to your inner creative.

I've had the pleasure of teaching beginners for decades in classrooms, cafes, on lovely home dining tables and in our cottage studio.

My love of teaching has always been present and is a purposeful pursuit.  My recent epiphany that it is the heart of this company has dropped in strongly these past months as my personal growth reached new heights.  It's time to bloom!

This is the year we come home to ourselves.  Beginner?  Let's start you on your sewing journey.  Welcome to our studio xo
